Review:
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony.”
Hebrews 11:1-2 NKJV
- define faith
- Dipstick
- false expectation
- sovereignty
“By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.”
Hebrews 11:3 NKJV
Creation
- We walk by faith not by sight
- broken seamer
“By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks.”
Hebrews 11:4 NKJV
Able
- Grace is the foundation of faith like faith is the foundation of expectation.
“By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, “and was not found, because God had taken him”; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God.”
Hebrews 11:5 NKJV
Enoch
- Faith is relational not just informational, or transactional.
“By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.”
Hebrews 11:7 NKJV
- Faith prepares
- There’s a God side and a man side
- Not storm free but storm proof
“By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. By faith he dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise; for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God.”
Hebrews 11:8-10 NKJV
Abraham
- Faith doesn’t need the whole picture just the next step
- Ishmael
You can create your own enemy of Gods promise.
“By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised. Therefore from one man, and him as good as dead, were born as many as the stars of the sky in multitude—innumerable as the sand which is by the seashore.”
Hebrews 11:11-12 NKJV
Sarah
- Abraham and Sarah. They had to heal relationally. God was preparing them for what he had for them. She was pivotal
In the promise was for THEM not just HIM.
- We don’t stagger we swagger. We walk by faith not by sight. Circumstances have to change because Gods word never changes.
- Sometimes God will allow your trust to be tried. It’s about your heart. He wants you to possess his promise not be possessed by it.
- Faith is a legacy…. We have to raise them as heirs, as prophets and voices for change in their generation.
- We saw that Abraham’s Faith derived from focusing on Gods word above his circumstances, and Sarah’s faith because of Gods faithfulness.
“By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning things to come.”
Hebrews 11:20 NKJV
Isaac
Where did Isaac get his faith, how did he get to the place where he could lay hands and pronounce blessing that’s still at work today. Isaac had to make his father’s faith his own
“By faith Jacob, when he was dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph, and worshiped, leaning on the top of his staff.”
Hebrews 11:21 NKJV
Jacob
Broken but blessed (Jacob, Esau, confrontation and manipulation. Jacob’s dream, covenant , God watches over his word. Wives, Laban)
Joseph
By faith Joseph, when he was dying, made mention of the departure of the children of Israel, and gave instructions concerning his bones.
Hebrews 11:21-22 NKJV
A DIVINE COMMENTARY ON JOSEPHS TRIALS:
“Until the time that his word came to pass, The word of the Lord tested him.”
Psalms 105:19 NKJV

- the way people treat you isn’t the rudder of your life.
- people will overlook you, people will forget about you but God does not forget.
- We get insight into why he keeps popping to the top.
- Trusting God and listening to his spirit.
- You don’t follow a man.

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified. What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.”
Romans 8:28-34 NKJV
