Big rocks story
• The big rocks represent your main priorities or longer-term goals. (vision for your life, sustainability, date nights, intimacy with your spouse, time with your family, exercise, eating habits, spending habits)
• The little rocks represent your day-to-day responsibilities and shorter-term goals. (band, homework, chores, brushing your teeth, mowing the yard, dinner)
• The sand represents minor tasks that are not really that important. (errands)
• The water represents the unimportant distractions that prevent you from getting work done. (social media, tv, games and entertainment)
The sabbath is a big rock (long term health, sustainability) that if we don’t make room for will get left out and we can’t do without it.
If what you call rest doesn’t energize you for the other things in your life it’s not rest. It’s amusement.
The beginning of every subject is a definition of terms.
Strong’s Definitions: שָׁבַת shâbath, shaw-bath’; a primitive root; to repose, i.e. desist from exertion
Sabbath = rest.
And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath: therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.
Mark 2:27-28 KJV
Sabbath isn’t a regulation we are expected to comply with, it’s a requirement we are created with.
GODS ORIGINAL INTENTIONS FOR MAN ARE HIS ETERNAL INTENTIONS.
Yes sin did come into the picture but if you notice sin made us run from God God still pursued us we hid ourselves God didn’t reject us we hid ourselves from him he pursued us and saved us and kept us from experiencing eternal consequences. It was protection not rejection. He pursued them and made a way for them to be in a relationship with him in spite of their sin
1. Dominion
2. To partake of and enjoy all that God has provided
3. Rest and fellowship with God.
4. To dress and keep it. Responsibility (rest comes before responsibly)
Sabbath isn’t just a day, again we aren’t talking about legalism,
Legalism vs. license.
Legalism (it has to be exactly like this)
License (we don’t need that any more)
Faith is a rest
For we who have believed do enter that rest…
Hebrews 4:3
There is a daily application of sabbath rest.
There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification.
1 Corinthians 14:10 KJV
There are so many voices Vying for our attention that We live in fight or flight mode;

So HOW DO WE PRIORITIZE REST ON A DAILY BASIS?
1. The one minute pause.
Lord, my heart is not haughty, Nor my eyes lofty. Neither do I concern myself with great matters, Nor with things too profound for me. Surely I have calmed and quieted my soul, Like a weaned child with his mother; Like a weaned child is my soul within me. O Israel, hope in the Lord From this time forth and forever.
Psalms 131:1-3 NKJV
He starts by talking about OVERTHINKING, and overcommitting!!
A weaned child doesn’t need it RIGHT NOW
A weaned child isn’t worried it won’t be provided for. It is content.
If you look he pauses to pray and invite God to be God.
We simply pause and pray something like:
God I invite you into this, fill me, I need more union with you.
2. Practice Benevolent detachment.
Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed. And Simon and those who were with Him searched for Him. When they found Him, they said to Him, “Everyone is looking for You.” But He said to them, “Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also, because for this purpose I have come forth.”
Mark 1:35-38 NKJV
1. You have to give everyone, and every thing to him. Because you are not God You cannot save them. You cannot even carry them.
2. You do your best and believe God for the rest.
3. Our job is to connect people with Jesus not to be Jesus for them.
4. Obey God and leave the consequences to him.
5. Peoples idea of you is not your responsibility to live up to
3. Unplugging
There’s a difference between unplugging (not doing anything or doing things that bring no value) than recharging. (Doing things that bring value and refreshment/strength to you)

Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper. The ungodly are not so, But are like the chaff which the wind drives away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the ungodly shall perish.
Psalms 1:1-6 NKJV
• There is a “way “ that the world lives by. (the cares of this world, the deceitful ness of riches, lust of other things)
• There is a “way” that believers live by
But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40:31 NKJV
Eagles make the choice to yield them selves to abandon themselves to the power that they were made for
