- 1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1 NKJV
- What is faith? It’s a persuasion, a firm persuasion. It’s a conviction based on what you have heard. It’s simply what you believe.
- Substance – basis, foundation
- Faith is based on grace.
- Faith is relationally how you respond to God’s grace.
- 14 The Lord upholds all who fall, And raises up all who are bowed down. Psalm 145:14 NKJV
- Faith is relationally how you respond to God’s grace.
- 1 And [Paul] went down to Derbe and also to Lystra. A disciple named Timothy was there, the son of a Jewish woman who was a believer [she had become convinced that Jesus is the Messiah and the Author of eternal salvation, and yielded obedience to Him]; but [Timothy’s] father was a Greek. 2 He [Timothy] had a good reputation among the brethren at Lystra and Iconium. 3 Paul desired Timothy to go with him [as a missionary]; and he took him and circumcised him because of the Jews that were in those places, all of whom knew that his father was a Greek. Acts 16:1-3 AMPC
- 1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ, by the commandment of God our Savior and the Lord Jesus Christ, our hope, 2 To Timothy, a true son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord. I Timothy 1:1-2 NKJV
- 1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus, 2 To Timothy, a beloved son: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord. II Timothy 1:1-2 NKJV
- 3 I thank God, whom I serve with a pure conscience, as my forefathers did, as without ceasing I remember you in my prayers night and day, 4 greatly desiring to see you, being mindful of your tears, that I may be filled with joy, 5 when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also. II Timothy 1:3-5 NKJV
- 12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled me, because He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry, 13 although I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. 14 And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant, with faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. 15 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. 16 However, for this reason I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show all longsuffering, as a pattern to those who are going to believe on Him for everlasting life. 17 Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen. I Timothy 1:12-17 NKJV
- 4 One generation shall praise Your works to another, And shall declare Your mighty acts. Psalm 145:4 NKJV
