Now after John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God, and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”
Mark 1:14-15 NKJV
“Gospel” (Greek: euangelion) — “good news”
“News”: an announcement about an event the has happened, and because of that event, things are different and will be different.
“Fulfilled”: no waiting
“Kingdom”: power and presence
“At hand”: available to all
“Repent”: think differently afterward
“Believe”= persuasion.
Galatians was written because, even in Paul’s day, the public was trying to change the intended message of the gospel
You ran well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth? This persuasion does not come from Him who calls you. A little leaven leavens the whole lump. I have confidence in you, in the Lord, that you will have no other mind; but he who troubles you shall bear his judgment, whoever he is.
Galatians 5:7-10 NKJV
And I, brethren, if I still preach circumcision, why do I still suffer persecution? Then the offense of the cross has ceased.
Galatians 5:11 NKJV
For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
I Corinthians 1:22-25 NKJV
I could wish that those who trouble you would even cut themselves off! Galatians 5:12 NKJV
For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another!”
Galatians 5:1-15 NKJV
