Bible
- “Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant: You know that you were Gentiles, carried away to these dumb idols, however you were led. Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit. There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills. For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit. For in fact the body is not one member but many.” 1 Corinthians 12:1-14
- The gifts proclaim Jesus as Lord.
- They are AS HE WILLS.
- The gifts are given to every man to profit all.
There are three categories of gifts:
- 3 say something (gifts of utterance)
- Prophecy
- Different kinds of tongues
- Interpretation of toungues
- 3 do something (gifts of power)
- Faith
- Working of miracles
- Gifts of healings
- 3 reveal something (gifts of revelation)
- Word of wisdom
- The word of wisdom is a supernatural revelation by the Spirit of God at a given moment disclosing the mind, purpose, and way of God as applied to a specific situation.
- Word of knowledge
- The word of knowledge is the supernatural revelation by the Holy Spirit of certain facts in the mind of God, which one would not have known apart from the Spirits revealing it.
- Discerning of spirits
-
The discerning of spirits is supernatural insight given by the Spirit of God into the spirit world, enabling one to properly judge what is of the Spirit of God and what is of other spirits–whether in circumstances or motives of people.
-
- Word of wisdom
There are three kinds of Faith mentioned in the Bible.
-
- “The faith” is used to describe the Christian faith.
- Personal faith is applying the objective belief in Jesus to our personal life in a subjective way.
- The gift of faith: simply a manifestation of the Spirit of God…as He wills… This isn’t something you initiate; it’s the ability to believe God for things not promised to in the Word.
A miracle in Bible terms is a supernatural intervention in the ordinary course of nature, through the power of God as the Spirit wills.
-
- Miracles are not magic.
- Miracles are not to be exhibition.
- Miracles cannot be forced. They are as HE WILLS.
Strong’s definition of “gifts:” χάρισμα chárisma, khar’-is-mah; from G5483; a (divine) gratuity, i.e. deliverance (from danger or passion); (specially), a (spiritual) endowment, i.e. (subjectively) religious qualification, or (objectively) miraculous faculty:—(free) gift
Strong’s definition of “healings:” ἴαμα íama, ee’-am-ah; from G2390; a cure (the effect):—healing
What God does for SOME miraculously and instantly (as He wills by a manifestation of the Holy Spirit), He does to show us what is available to ALL by faith in the Word as they will!
Even Jesus was hindered in ministry because of the Faith of the people He ministered to. The reason? Honor.
-
- “But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country, among his own relatives, and in his own house.” Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. And He marveled because of their unbelief. Then He went about the villages in a circuit, teaching.” Mark 6:4-6 NKJV
When there is no manifestation, you stick with the WORD.
-
- “And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.” Mark 16:20 NKJV
Healing through personal faith :
-
- “Then He brought him outside and said, “Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.” And He said to him, “So shall your descendants be.” And he believed in the Lord, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.” Genesis 15:5-6 NKJV
- “who, contrary to hope, in hope believed, so that he became the father of many nations, according to what was spoken, “So shall your descendants be.”” Romans 4:18 NKJV
Healing through the gift of healing :
-
- “but to none of them was Elijah sent except to Zarephath, in the region of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow.” Luke 4:26 NKJV
- She had no covenant with God. No basis of faith.
- “Now it happened after these things that the son of the woman who owned the house became sick. And his sickness was so serious that there was no breath left in him. So she said to Elijah, “What have I to do with you, O man of God? Have you come to me to bring my sin to remembrance, and to kill my son?” And he said to her, “Give me your son.” So he took him out of her arms and carried him to the upper room where he was staying, and laid him on his own bed. Then he cried out to the Lord and said, “O Lord my God, have You also brought tragedy on the widow with whom I lodge, by killing her son?” And he stretched himself out on the child three times, and cried out to the Lord and said, “O Lord my God, I pray, let this child’s soul come back to him.” Then the Lord heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came back to him, and he revived. And Elijah took the child and brought him down from the upper room into the house, and gave him to his mother. And Elijah said, “See, your son lives!”” I Kings 17:17-23 NKJV
- “but to none of them was Elijah sent except to Zarephath, in the region of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow.” Luke 4:26 NKJV
Personal faith:
-
- “And suddenly, a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years came from behind and touched the hem of His garment. For she said to herself, “If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well.” But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her He said, “Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And the woman was made well from that hour.” Matthew 9:20-22 NKJV
Gift of healing:
-
- “Now it happened, the day after, that He went into a city called Nain; and many of His disciples went with Him, and a large crowd. And when He came near the gate of the city, behold, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his mother; and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the city was with her. When the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said to her, “Do not weep.” Then He came and touched the open coffin, and those who carried him stood still. And He said, “Young man, I say to you, arise.” So he who was dead sat up and began to speak. And He presented him to his mother.” Luke 7:11-15 NKJV
- “Then fear came upon all, and they glorified God, saying, “A great prophet has risen up among us”; and, “God has visited His people.” And this report about Him went throughout all Judea and all the surrounding region.” Luke 7:16-17 NKJV
