Bible

  • “Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant: You know that you were Gentiles, carried away to these dumb idols, however you were led. Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit. There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word ofwisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills. For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit. For in fact the body is not one member but many.” 1 Corinthians 12:1-14
    • The gifts proclaim Jesus as Lord.
    • They are AS HE WILLS.
    • The gifts are given to every man to profit all.
    • You receive all of these things for yourself through your own faith but when it comes to ministering to others you  have: spontaneously granted tools given as the NEED arises and THE SPIRIT DETERMINES.
There are three categories of gifts:
  • 3 say something (gifts of utterance)
    • Prophecy
    • Different kinds of tongues
    • Interpretation of toungues
  • 3 do something (gifts of power)
    • Faith
    • Working of miracles
    • Gifts of healings
  • 3 reveal something (gifts of revelation)
    • Word of wisdom
      • The word of wisdom is a supernatural revelation by the Spirit of God at a given moment disclosing the mind, purpose, and way of God as applied to a specific situation.
    • Word of knowledge
      • The word of knowledge is the supernatural revelation by the Holy Spirit of certain facts in the mind of God, which one would not have known apart from the Spirits revealing it.
    • Discerning of spirits
      • The discerning of spirits is supernatural insight given by the Spirit of God into the spirit world, enabling one to properly judge what is of the Spirit of God and what is of other spirits–whether in circumstances or motives of people.
There are three kinds of faith mentioned in the Bible.
    1. “The faith” is used to describe the Christian faith.
    2. Personal faith is applying the objective belief in Jesus to our personal life in a subjective way.
    3. The gift of faith: simply a manifestation of the Spirit of God…as He wills… This isn’t something you initiate; it’s the ability to believe God for things not promised to in the Word.
A miracle in Bible terms is a supernatural intervention in the ordinary course of nature, through the power of God as the Spirit wills.
    1. Miracles are not magic.
    2. Miracles are not to be exhibition.
    3. Miracles cannot be forced. They are as HE WILLS.
WE DON’T DECIDE WHAT IT MEANS; WE DISCOVER WHAT IT MEANS.
What God does for SOME miraculously and instantly (as He wills  by a manifestation of the Holy Spirit),  He does to show us what is available to ALL by faith in the Word as they will!
We can be healed asHe wills by the manifestation of the Spirit
We can be healed by our own personal faith in His promise.
    • ‬Hebrew, literally: you cause to bubble up, hence to pour forth abundantly
    • STRONGS NT 4396: προφήτης προφήτης, προφήτου, ὁ (προφημι, to speak forth, speak out; hence, properly, ‘one who speaks forth’; see πρό, d. α.), the Sept. for נָבִיא (which comes from the same root as, ‘to divulge,’ ‘make known,’ ‘announce’ (cf. Fleischer in Delitzsch, Com. ü. d. Gen, 4te Aufl., p. 551f), therefore properly, equivalent to interpreter, Exodus 7:1, cf. 4:16; hence, an interpreter or spokesman
      • It means to be a spokesperson for God.
Prophet vs prophecy
    • “But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men.” ‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭14:3‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
Edification
Strong’s definition: οἰκοδομή; oikodomḗ, oy-kod-om-ay’; feminine (abstract) of a compound of G3624 and the base of G1430; architecture, i.e. (concretely) a structure; figuratively, confirmation:—building, edify(-ication, -ing)
1. Building up and confirming what God’s Word or the leading of His Spirit has already spoken to you
Exhortation

1. properly, a calling near, summons
2. A calling near to God. A plea for repentance.
Comfort
Strong’s definition: παραμυθία paramythía, par-am-oo-thee’-ah; from G3888; consolation (properly, abstract):—comfort
3. To come alongside and comfort.
“Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophecies. Test all things; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil.” ‭‭I Thessalonians‬ ‭5:19-22‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
How to judge prophecy:
    • The Word
      • “for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.” 2 Peter 1:21 NKJV
    • Fruit
      • “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.” Matthew 7:15-17 NKJV
    • Does it glorify Jesus?
      • “He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.” John 16:14 NKJV
    • Liberty or bondage?
      • “For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” Romans 8:15 NKJV
    • Confusion or peace?
      • “For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.” 1 Corinthians 14:33 NKJV
